Spend time in Belleville’s thriving Art Scene – Downtown Belleville is a hotbed of local artists and galleries. Pottery, paintings, sculptures, glasswork, handcrafted jewellery, murals and so much more. Local artwork can be seen not only in the galleries but also in a number of the downtown restaurants and store fronts, such as; Sans Couci, Gourmet Diem Cafe, Dinkel’s Restaurant, Funk & Gruven and many others!
The BAA is a hub of activities ranging from their annual juried exhibition and annual artist’s choice show all the way to open studio events for painting, workshops and seminars. The BAA’s gallery displays original work from their over 100 members throughout the year in all media’s. They are also well known for their incredible workshops that are instructed not only by local artists, but also some well known international artists as well.
The Core Arts & Culture Centre of Downtown Belleville provides not only a gallery on its second floor but also, programming such as pottery, music and art classes. The venue has a gallery space for cultural events and features state of the art lighting and sound, creating an intimate performance space for local and touring musicians.
Gallery 121 is a cooperative art gallery that showcases the Quintessential Art of their member artists. Every six weeks, the main gallery exhibition changes, and one of the members shows a larger body of work in the smaller gallery room. Styles of the exhibits range from realism to abstract in a wide variety of media; oil. acrylic, watercolour, crayon, graphite, pastel, fibre, clay and so much more.
Since 1973 the library has been a cultural hub for the region, providing an exhibition space for local, national and international artists. Many changes have occurred over the years, but the John M. Parrott Art Gallery continues in its role as the only public art gallery in the Quinte region.
The Quinte Arts Council’s Gallery and Gift Shop offers works by local artists. Browse the shop in Belleville’s gallery district for unique items such as pottery, glass art, jewellery, stained glass, soaps and woodwork. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir to remember your trip to Bellevile.
