With over 100 restaurants, cafes, bistros & bars Belleville has no shortage of patios to explore all around the city. We can’t possibly cover all of the patios in Belleville, so in this blog we are going to cover some of the best patios where you can enjoy an adult beverage. In part 1 of our patio season blog we are going to focus on Downtown Belleville and the South end of the city. So join us as we put our feet on the street to explore the patio spots in Downtown/South end Belleville!

Birdy’s Fine Casual Dining – 449 Dundas St. W

As the name suggests Birdy’s is fine dining with a casual atmosphere. Serving up locally sourced produce & meat paired with local craft beers and wines, Birdy’s is a great way to get a taste of the Bay of Quinte region. The name Birdy’s also represents their love for the outdoors, and their patio & green space certainly shows it. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, mature trees, and views of the bay it’s perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle while relaxing with family, friends and nature. It also boasts a large lawn with toys for the young ones and the young at heart for some after dinner fun & games.

Cafe E Patio

Cafe E – 357 Front St.

Café e has a charming little patio situated near Empire Theatre. This patio is the perfect place to start your day or take a lunch break from exploring Downtown. This patio has an aura of tranquility with fresh flowers, a little shade from the sun and the smell of fresh coffee and local produce. Specializing in fresh sandwiches, home-made soup, salads and treats (vegan friendly) paired with either café classics or local wines & beers.

Capers Patio

Capers – 272 Front St.

Set in the heart of the city Capers has truly become a Belleville staple. This popular local watering hole is always serving up glasses of wine from their curated list, amazing original cocktails, and a huge selection of the regions finest craft beer! This picturesque street view patio is the perfect locale for drinks, laughs and music with family and friends. Don’t miss some of Ontario’s best folk, blues, and acoustic bands performing live every Friday & Saturday night. See you there!

Chilangos – 390 Front St.

The warm welcoming atmosphere of the family owned authentic Mexican restaurant Chilangos is something you don’t want to miss out on this patio season. With both riverside and street view patios Chilangos offers a perfect setting for every occasion. Enjoy a fresh margarita surrounded by mature trees, beautiful gardens and the peaceful sounds of the Moira River on their riverside patio. Or grab some cervezas a couple of tacos and enjoy the sunshine of the street side patio. Be sure to check out their daily specials and don’t forget! –  Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday (Tuesdays are our favorite).

Lafferty's Patio

Lafferty’s Crossing – 228 Front St.

This is the most unique patio on our list, and the reason for that is because it is neither a bar nor a restaurant. It is actually a men’s clothing store. Owner Tom Lafferty wanted to create a warm and welcoming shopping experience with an atmosphere that matched. Featuring everything from casual wear to tailored suites, so grab your buddies come pick out a new sport jacket or pair of jeans then relax with a beer on this beautiful riverside patio.

L'auberge Patio

L’Auberge de France – 304 Front St.

A slice of Paris in Downtown Belleville. L’Auberge de France is our very own French bistro nestled in the downtown, serving up an authentic French dining experience, as well as, a bakery, gourmet shop and cheese boutique. Their brilliant and cozy street style patio is the perfect place to enjoy an enchanting French lunch paired with a glass of wine, or a fresh flaky croissant paired with a warm café au lait. This perfect little patio will make you feel like you are sitting on Saint-Germain-des-Pres in Paris.

Paulo's Patio

Paulo’s & Dinkel’s Restaurants – 38/44 Bridge St. E

Two great restaurants side by side in a beautiful historic downtown setting. These two restaurants offer two beautifully unique patio settings. You can enjoy a glass of wine with fresh stone fired pizza on the quaint street side patio of Paulo’s Italian Trattoria. Or if you want to submerse yourself in the heart of Italy enjoy the oasis that is Dinkel’s Courtyard. Complete with lime stone walls, a stone fountain and surrounded by aromatic greenery, this patio will whisk you away to a dining experience second to only Italy itself.

The boat House Patio by water

The Boathouse – 32 South Front St.

Remember what I just said about feeling like you are sitting right on the water? Well the patio at The Boathouse is just that. Built right over the water at the mouth of the Moira River, you can’t get any closer to the water (and stay dry) without being in a boat. Serving up delectable seafood with incredible views and fresh river breezes is the perfect combination for a summer evening out. Voted Quinte’s Favourite Readers’ Choice Seafood Restaurant 13 years and running, The Boathouse is a seafood lover’s dream.

The Beaufort Pub Patio Area

The Beaufort Pub – 173 Dundas St. E

The Beaufort Pub is exactly what you picture when you think of and old traditional English pub. It has a cozy atmosphere with fireplaces, lounge chairs, friendly staff and traditional British Fare. While the Beaufort’s patio might not have the most picturesque views, what it lacks in a view it more than makes up for in service and quality. If you want to drink and eat like the English then grab your friends and come relax on The Beaufort patio with a Guinness or your favourite European import!

The Lark Patio

The Lark – 199 Front St. Suite 104

The Lark is a bustling neighbourhood wine and cocktail bar. It’s the place you meet friends after work, or where you start a girl’s night out, or where you end up after a show at the Empire Theatre. Boasting an enormous wine selection, always changing seasonal food menu, owners/bartenders that really know how to craft a cocktail and a beautiful street level patio it’s the perfect locale for sunshine, socializing and sipping on something incredible.

The Pier Patio & BBQ – 1 South Front St.

There are really only a few patios in Belleville that can make you feel like you are sitting right on the water. The Pier Patio & BBQ is one of those places. Located at the very tip of South Front St. with the Meyer’s Pier Marina, this patio has everything you are looking for if you love great views, casual pub dining, friendly service and great times with friends.
